I’m at work and don’t have enough time to read all this. Is there any mention of an investigation to what the hell they are suppose to find in the walls?
They arent gonna find anything in the walls im sure. And the kids will be fine. Its some nutty prankster. Not saying I would move in there, because its certainly terrifying. But i dont think anyone is watching the house.
It may be empty, which would beg the question of insulation. But I’m more curious about the what if there were something in there that shouldn’t be?
A shity insulation job. It’s terrifying. Terrifying to think how much they are wasting on their energy bill each month.
Personally, I think it’s someone who knows the FAMILY, not the house.
There’s nothing in the walls. I know, because I have been watching The Watcher.....And he’s full of shit.
Interesting theory. Definitely makes more sense than someone being obsessed with the property. Or what if someone wanted that house? Do you remember a few years back the lady who got outbid on a house and started stalking the residents
That would be awesome. I would definitely inspect the walls of my newly purchased dream home. It would be great if he took a stand against the watcher and moved in, like in the movies
That’s possible too.
I don’t know but I’d bet that whatever it is, it puts the lotion in the basket.
You deserve so many stars
It sort of depends on when the previous family received their letter or letters. If the previous family hadn’t received these letters, I don’t think the suit would apply.
True
Perhaps more terrifying than the Watcher’s nefarious intentions is the fact that our inaccessible and convoluted legal system mandates that we take 29 pages to say “we’re suing you because you sold us a house without disclosing that a terrorist makes threats against its occupants.”
My take as well. Lawyers are the main drivers of global warming.
Lawyers wouldn’t be able to charge much for that.
Yep, this.
Yeah, it’s crazy how our legal system forces you to make clear, specific, detailed allegations when filing a lawsuit. What a country!
Wild guess here, but by any chance do you also complain about over-litigiousness in America?
Nah, as a lawyer I can say it’s the lawyers that do that, not the system.
I see you’re not a lawyer because there’s a method to the madness. The less details you provide the more likely a defendant will move to dismiss for, among other things, failing to state a cause of action upon which relief can be granted.
Thank you; first thing I thought when I noticed I need to give up on the mouse wheel and pull the scroll bar instead to get through that bullshit.
Either the new home owners are incredible scammers, or the police in this town are the worst.
I’m from nearby and can confirm the police in the worst. 95% of their job is corralling middle schoolers who hang out in the downtown district until 9PM on weekends.
I agree. This sounds like a scam. “The Watcher” only contacted the previous owners once and a week before they found these buyers?
Maybe, or maybe the new owners only found out about one of the previous letters. The previous owners have a lot of incentive to put it in that light.
Well the new owners only seem to have evidence/knowledge of him contacting them once a week before they bought it but that is very likely not the first or only contact. It would be in the interest of the defendants to suppress any evidence that they had received letters before. My question is how did they find out about that letter that was sent to the Woods a week before they purchased the house? Perhaps the “Watcher” told them about it in a letter to them.
Why did you just post court documents - just give me the information parsed out as news...jesus this is why I DIDN”T go to law school - because I don’t want to read bullshit.
If so, it should probably be linked to, somewhere in this post. Giant court documents, sans context, are utterly uninteresting.
It is linked in the main article:
The full text of “The Watcher” lawsuit recently filed in Union County, New Jersey can be found below. Starting on page 5, plaintiffs Derek and Maria Broaddus begin quoting disturbing letters sent by “The Watcher” about their young children. Read more about the case here.
If you click on the blue “here” it takes you right to the story.
Yes, how dare they post documents to documents.gawker.
Is THAT how those work?
Yeah, THAT’s why you didn’t go to law school.
